After operation guidelines

  • Wear plastic protective eyewear when sleeping for one week after surgery to make sure you don’t rub your eyes while sleeping.

  • We recommend that you should avoid washing your face and showering for 3 days after surgery. However, if you must, you can carefully wash your face avoiding the eye area from the day of surgery.

  • Avoid public baths, saunas, and steam rooms for 1 month after surgery. Also, for 1 month, you should be careful not to get soapy water or shampoo in your eyes.

  • It is important not to get cosmetics or medicines in your eyes after surgery. So you should wait 3 days after surgery to wear foundation make-up, and 3 weeks before using mascara or eye liner. We also recommend you don’t get a perm or dye your hair for 1 month of after surgery.

  • You can resume light exercises and jogging 1 week after surgery, but skiing and swimming should be avoided for 1 month after surgery.

  • Do not drink alcohol for one month after surgery and stop smoking if possible.

  • Be careful when driving for a few days after surgery and avoid night driving if you notice light glare during your early recovery period.

  • Come in for post-operative examination the day after surgery, one week after surgery, one month after surgery, three month after surgery, and six months after surgery. (The schedule can be adjusted depending on your eye condition.)

  • If you experience a slow recovery or severe eye dryness after surgery, you will be given a separate examination schedule and instructions.

  • People with high myopia are more likely to have cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and degenerative changes in the retina. Therefore, after having surgery for high myopia, we recommend you come in to NUNEVIT Eye Center for regular annual check-ups.
